Lewis Clark
Technical Games Designer At Sumo Digital Newcastle
In June 2021, I graduated from Teesside University with a 1st class honours certification in ‘Computer Games Design’. I then started my career in the Games Industry as a Junior Games Designer. In July 2022, I was promoted to a Technical Games Designer at Sumo Digital’s Newcastle studio!
I have been working in Unreal Engine 4/5 for over 7 years with 4 of those years being in a professional fast paced iterative environment.
I am an avid visual scripter with my work mainly consisting of taking game mechanics/systems all the way from concept through to implementation through the use of GDD’s & Unreal Engines Visual Scripting language Blueprints whilst balancing along the way. In short, I can create game design documents and playable prototypes.
I have worked on multiple projects over the years and shipped two games within the past year that were released on the platforms: PC, Steam Deck & Nintendo Switch. The latest two titles I have worked on are “DeathSprint 66”(fast-paced multiplayer, bi-pedal racer) & “Critter Café” (cosy café management/puzzle game) in which I helped with technical and general design aspects as well as being a feature owner for the ‘Abilities’ in “DeathSprint 66” and a feature owner for the ‘Mini Games’ in “Critter Café”.
Over the years I have created many game design documents, prototyped hundreds of mechanics using Unreal Engines visual scripting language (Blueprints), led small teams as a feature owner and mentored/presented several games industry talks for various educational programs and companies such as the BBC.
Key software's/services I use consist of: Unreal Engine, Photoshop/GIMP, Perforce/GitHub, Confluence, Jira, Miro & Microsoft Suite Programs.
